Where a conventional lower unit would sit, the Evinrude E105DPJL carries a jet pump instead, letting it run over rocks, sandbars and shallow rivers that would sideline a propped motor. Power comes from Evinrude's 60-degree V6 E-TEC direct-injection two-stroke, a six-cylinder design that rates 105 horsepower measured at the pump. It's fitted with a 20-inch shaft, electric start, power trim and water cooling, and being direct-injected it skips the oil-mixing and heavy scheduled service of older two-strokes. With no exposed prop or gearcase, it's a natural fit for jet-boat owners, guides and anyone working thin, debris-strewn water.
