Overview

Detuned from a larger platform and all the better for it, the pre-owned Suzuki DF40A brings real refinement to the 40-horse class. It shares the same 941 cc in-line three-cylinder DOHC 12-valve powerhead as Suzuki's bigger motors, using multi-point electronic fuel injection and a twin-cam, four-valve head for strong low-speed torque, smooth running and stingy fuel use. The motor carries electric start, power trim and tilt, a 20-inch long shaft and 19-amp charging, weighing 227 lb. That extra displacement gives it a comfortable, unhurried character for aluminum boats and small consoles. We've inspected it and can crate it for freight anywhere in the lower 48.
